Our mission is to ensure employees experiencing grief can access compassionate, specialist support - and that organisations feel confident and supported during the most challenging of moments.
We work exclusively in grief and loss.
This focus allows us to offer structured, gentle and expert guidance when it’s needed most.
The Grief Therapists was founded by Rainbow and Matt Tomes, whose personal and professional experiences shaped their deep understanding of grief and its impact on working life.
Both have experienced grief at times when support was limited or unclear. These experiences revealed how often employees - and HR - are left without guidance during deeply human moments.
Together, they created a service grounded in:
A service built for the moments that matter.
Rainbow has extensive experience supporting people through grief and life transitions.
Her own experiences of unsupported grief underpin her commitment to ensuring employees receive thoughtful, specialist care - and that organisations feel confident and supported too.
She leads our organisational relationships and ensures every workplace receives a personal, human experience.
Matt grew up in a family with a long history in the funeral profession.
This background gave him a grounded, respectful understanding of grief - emotionally, practically and culturally.
Combined with his own personal experiences of loss, Matt brings calm, structure and strong operational leadership to the service.
He oversees all practice systems, therapist coordination and governance, ensuring every referral is handled with care.
Sarah ensures every employee and organisation experiences a smooth, steady pathway into support.
She manages referrals, therapist coordination, scheduling and quality processes with warmth and precision.
Amanda supports the day-to-day functioning of the practice and ensures operations run gently and efficiently behind the scenes.
Our therapists are carefully selected for their experience, warmth and professionalism.
They:

have therapeutic training appropriate to their role

work within recognised professional frameworks

receive ongoing supervision

specialise in grief, loss and transitions

offer steady, compassionate support
We take great care in ensuring every employee receives support that truly fits their situation and emotional needs.
Our matching process is thoughtful and human-led, designed to give people the best possible start in therapy while giving HR confidence that the right specialist is in place.
